교사는 아니어도 교육자는 있다.

According to a news report, a certain private school in Washington recently was faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.

Every night, the maintenance man would remove them and the next day, the girls would put them back. Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night.

To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required. He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

There are teachers, and then there are educators.

매일밤, 관리인이 이를 지우곤 하였는데 다음날이면 소녀들이 또 그런짓을 하곤 하였다. 드디어 교장선생님은 무슨 수를 써야겠다고 생각했다. 교장선생님은 모든 여학생을 관리인과 함께 화장실로 불렀다. 교장선생님은 이런 입술자국은 매일밤 거울을 닦아야하는 관리인이게 큰 짐이 된다고 설명했다.

거울을 닦는 것이 얼마나 힘드는지를 보여주기 위하여, 교장선생님은 관리인에게 여학생들에게 얼마나 힘드는지 보여주라고 말했다. 관리인는 자루가 긴 고무걸레(유리창 닦는 걸레)를 집더니 그걸 변기에 담궜다, 그리고는 그걸로 거울을 닦았다. 그때 이후로는 거울에 립스틱 자국이 찍히지 않았다.
