Elena Gilbert: I went home tonight planning to write in my diary, which I've done every day since my mother gave me one when I was 10. It's where I get everything out and it all goes in this one little book, which I keep on the 2nd shelf behind this really hideous ceramic mermaid. Then I realized I would only be writing things I should probably be telling you. Stefan Salvatore: What would you write? Elena Gilbert : I would write, `Dear Diary, Today I convinced myself it's okay to give up. Stick with the status quo, now just isn't the time. But my reasons aren't reasons, they're excuses and the truth is, I'm scared` Stefan. I'm scared that if I let myself be happy for one minute, that the my world's going to come crashing down and I don't know if I'll be able to survive that. Stefan Salvatore : Do you want to know what I would write? `I met a girl, we talked and it was epic. Then the sun came up and reality set in`. Well, this is reality.....

현실을 받아들여라 "인생이란 원래 공평하지 못하다. 그런 현실에 대하여 불평할 생각하지 말고 받아들여라." 빌게이츠의 말이다. 언뜻 냉정하게 들리기까지 한 말이지만 현실을 외면한 채 인생을 아름답게만 하려는 말보다 가슴에 더 와 닿는다. 우리는 모두 생김이 다르고, 태어난 환경이 다르고, 또 살아가는 주변상황이나 여건이 같을 수 없다. 그것을 알면서도 때로는 나보다 나은 사람과 비교하면서 상심하거나 고개 꺾이기도 한다. 그러나 그것에서 벗어나야 한다. 다양한 분야의 다양한 사람들이 섞여가는 세상이기 때문이다. 나에게 유독 인색하다고 생각되는 상황을 불평하고 그것에 눌려 지내기보다는 내 주어진 것에서 좀 더 나아질 수 있다는 확신으로 자신 있게 사는 것, 그것이 바람직한 인생이리라. - 최선옥 시인 받은 글입니다.

누구나 현실을 볼 수 있는 것은 아니다. 대부분의 사람은 자기가 보고 싶어하는 현실밖에 보지 않는다. 『로마인 이야기 4』, 시오노 나나미 현실을 봐야한다고 하면서도 많은 사람들은 현실에 대한 두려움을 가지고 있습니다. 내가 만든 가상의 현실을 현실로 믿고 있는 것은 아닌지 생각해 봅니다.
