Sundries: 오늘을 최고로 잘 사는 길
"옛날에는..." 이라고 말하는 사람은 고물이다. 그 말 속에는 "나는 옛날에나 어울리는 사람이야!" 라는 뜻이 담겨 있다. 오늘을 최고로 잘 사는 길은 오늘 일어나는 변화를 가장 적극적으로 받아들이는 것이다.

Sundries: 마음의 평화
얼마 전 아프리카의 위대한 아버지 넬슨 만델라가 95세의 나이로 세상을 떠났습니다. 그가 남긴 큰 족적이 앞으로도 계속 아프리카에 평화를 가져다 주기를 기도해봅니다.
만델라는 27년 동안 옥살이를 하며 백인정권으로부터 혹독한 고문을 받았으나, 그 모든 것을 용서하고 흑백간 통합을 이루어 냈습니다.
한국의 큰 스님이자 멘토이신 법륜스님도 “용서는 내 상처를 치유하는 것이다. 상대방이 잘했다 잘못했다 하기 이전에, 상대방이 나쁜 놈이다 못된 놈이다 하기 전에, 내 상처를 치유하는 과정이다”라고 하셨습니다.
이제 2013년도 얼마 남지 않았습니다.
혹시 미움과 원망이 마음속에 있다면, 용서와 치유를, 마음의 평화를 찾으시기를 기원합니다.

삶이란 지금 이 순간 손에 쥔 일을 얼마나 치열하게 신명을 바쳐 해나가느냐에 따라 달라집니다. 누군가 '삶은 선택이다'고 말했죠? 삶은 기회, 그 자체이기도 합니다. 바로 이 순간에도 우리는 오고 가는 기회들을 붙잡거나 놓치면서 삶의 길을 그려나가고 있습니다.

남들이 대수롭지 않게 여기는 일에도 신명을 바쳐 일하는 사람들이 있다. 성실이란 단어로 다 표현할 수 없을 만큼 매사에 진지하게 일하는 사람들이다. 기회는 그런 사람들에게 열린다. 삶이란 결국 '자신이 무엇을 갖고 있느냐'에 따라 대부분 결정된다. 가치있는 것을 마음에 품은 사람의 주변에는 항상 사람들이 많다.

안녕하세요 힘찬 하루가 되시길
'사랑은 시간을 내주는 것'이라는 대목이 가슴을 찌릅니다. 나이가 들수록 더욱 간절해지는 말입니다. 이렇게 살아 있는 동안, 온 몸의 세포가 살아 있을 때 당신과 함께 보내는 시간이 더 많기를 기원하며 '창조적 시간표'를 다시 짜야겠습니다. 내가 먼저 내야 시간도 생기니까요.

어떤 사람과 친해지려면 그에게 시간을 내줘야 한다. 함께 보내는 시간이 없으면 친밀함이 생길 수 없다. "사랑은 시간을 내주는 것이다" 라는 말도 있다. 시간표를 창조적으로 짜야 한다. 시간의 여유분을 만들어서 함께 보내는 시간을 가져야 한다. 누군가와 함께 있을 때가 재미있고 또 만나고 싶다면 친밀함이 시작된 것이다.

오죽했으면 그럴까
참을성이 있는 사람의 분노의 폭발에 조심하라.

평소 조용하던 사람이 어느 날 돌변하는 경우가 있습니다. 원래 그런 성향이 잠재되어 있다가 어느 순간 폭발한 것일 수도 있고, 정말 참을 수 없는 지경까지 와서 비로소 화를 내는 경우일 수도 있습니다.
늘 화를 내던 사람이라면 그러려니 넘어가겠지만, 오죽했으면 그럴까, 잘못된 것을 시정해야 하는 것입니다.
목소리 큰 사람에게만 빨리 대응하는 습관 때문에 점점 더 목소리를 키우는 것일지도 모르겠습니다.
