Today's Flower: Lilac

Scientific Name: Syringa vulgaris

Origin: Balkan Peninsula, Southeastern Europe

Habitat: Sunny, well-drained fertile garden soil

The Lilac is a species of flowering plant in the olive family, native to the Balkan Peninsula, where it grows on rocky hills. This shrub is widely cultivated for its fragrant purple flowers that bloom in late spring. Each flower is about 1 cm long with a four-lobed corolla, gathered in large terminal panicles.

Historically, lilacs have been celebrated in poetry and art for their association with the renewal of spring. The intoxicating scent is used extensively in perfumery. Beyond its beauty, the wood of the lilac is among the densest in Europe, historically valued for intricate wood carvings and small tools.

"May the nostalgic scent of Lilacs brighten your Thursday with fresh energy and sweet memories."
