Botany & Origin

Wisteria is a deciduous climbing vine native to East Asia, including Korea and Japan. It is famous for its massive, pendulous flower clusters that can grow up to 100cm long. It thrives in well-drained soil with full sun exposure, typically blooming in mid-spring. The woody stems grow thick over decades, creating sturdy and artistic garden structures.

A Symbol of Balance

In East Asian culture, Wisteria represents "Welcome" due to its bowing appearance. Interestingly, the etymology of the word 'conflict' comes from the entanglement of Wisteria and Arrowroot vines, which twist in opposite directions. This teaches us about the complexity of relationships and the importance of finding harmony amidst differences.
